Our Philosophy
The Abingdon Kindergarten believes that early childhood is the foundation on which children build the rest of their lives. We value each child as an individual therefore they develop at different rates and in different ways; emotionally, socially, physically, intellectually, morally and spiritually. Each child's potential will emerge under favourable conditions and we provide a homely environment where children feel loved, secure and happy. We aim to develop each child's self-esteem and confidences, helping them construct an understanding of the world around, of themselves and of their relationship with others.
Endeavouring to build upon what the child already knows, we offer opportunities for extending learning and developing knowledge through new experiences. We strive to make parents feel welcome and become an integral part of the kindergarten. Each child's admission is sensitively managed, so that parents and children become familiar with the new surrounding and are able to form good relationships with the staff. A child's experience at home are highly influential in their learning and so we encourage regular collaboration between parents and staff, so that mutual respect, trust, understanding, and sharing, is built into an effective partnership. The kindergarten provides equal opportunity regardless of gender, race or disability.
